Information & Character This is a fantastic red wine made from grapes from old vines, mostly Monastrell, the region's queen grape, with a small contribution of Cabernet Sauvignon and Garnacha Tintorera (also a native grape), harvested at 800 meters above sea level. The wine is aged for ten months in French and American barrels. Deep aromas of ripe black fruit and licorice emerge here. It is ripe and intense, with a Mediterranean character. Ripe dark berry aromas (blueberries and blackberries). These fruit tones return together with a plum jam tone and an elegant mineral touch. The oak notes are perfectly integrated with sweet tannins and a long finish.

Production The wine undergoes malolactic fermentation and is aged only in oak barrels.

Soil Calcareous clay soils

Perfect for charcuterie, pasta, lamb, pork and poultry dishes and cheese.

About the Producer

Bodegas Castaño is a family winery that has evolved over the years to become one of the leading wine producers in the south-east of Spain. Ramón Castaño Santa, founder of Bodegas Castaño, began producing the first bulk wines in 1950. A pioneer in the use of the Monastrell grape, he expanded the family legacy with the purchase of new estates. With the gradual integration of his three sons, Ramón, Juan Pedro and Daniel Castaño, came innovation, opening the doors to the international market. They have two vinification warehouses in Bodegas Castaño where the stainless steel tanks are placed for the correct fermentation of the wines at controlled temperatures. An underground cellar for subsequent aging in oak barrels.
