Information & Character The winter season leading up to 2014 gave Napa Valley about half of normal rainfall, but much needed rain. Which results in slightly smaller berries with higher concentration and thus more intense flavors. In 2014 we were also able to include for the first time a small amount of Cabernet grapes from a new grower near our original vineyard sourse 1700´up on Atlas Peak. Bottled July 2016 after 21+ months of aging in French oak barrels. Intense and concentrated in depth and the feeling of minerals along with stone and honey. The flavors of perfectly ripe fruit flavors. In short, this is a fascinating bouquet, it is very aromatic and in its finesse, freshness and perfectly balanced elegance

Production takes place at low temperature in oak barrels.

Soil Decomposed volcanic ash.

About the Producer

Henrik Poulsen was born, raised and trained in the fine wine trade in Denmark. His winemaking journey began with a 13-month stint in Bordeaux in 1999 before moving permanently to Napa Valley. His resume here includes six vintages at Newton Vineyards, seven vintages as Assistant Winemaker at Alpha Omega Winery and most recently three vintages as Dir. of Winemaking for Acumen Wine. He co-founded Release Winery in 2010 as winemaker and has been the sole owner since 2016.
