Information & Character The wine comes from the Lussac-Saint-Émilion appellation, one of the “satellites” of Saint-Émilion on the right bank of Bordeaux. The average age of the vines is around 25 years for this cuvée. Handpicking and handsorting, selection, maceration for about a month, barrel aging for about 15 months in French oak barrels (mixture of new, first and second fillings). Fruity with hints of ripe red small fruits (berries), perhaps crunchy cherries, a little darker berries too (blackcurrants etc.), with a certain spiciness and oak barrel tones. Hints of blackberry and plum, the fruity components in the bouquet are accompanied by blueberries. Pleasantly dry, round and soft. On the tongue, this well-balanced red wine is characterized by an incredibly velvety texture. The finish comes with mineral tones.

Production The must was fermented in temperature-controlled stainless steel and cement tanks.

About the Producer

The old stables still remain from the Middle Ages, along with the long cypress-lined driveway, the park and the lake with its wild beauty. If the desire to make wine on these slopes goes back centuries, for today's visitors Château du Courlat is a breath of fresh air, a peaceful oasis close to nature, the vines and the wine. Through generations, Pierre Bourotte saved Le Courlat from sale by taking up the challenge started by his grandfather. Le Courlat 'Jean-Baptiste', full of power and depth, today bears the first name of this grandfather. The other vineyards remain faithful to the spirit of this place: authentic and genuine; the classic Le Courlat combines elegant fruit and pure pleasure.
