Information & Character At Château Grand-Puy-Lacoste, the grapes are hand-picked. The destemmed grapes are then fermented in temperature-controlled stainless steel tanks for 3 weeks. The wine is then aged in oak barrels for 14 to 16 months depending on the vintage (45% new barrels). Lacoste-Borie is Château Grand-Puy-Lacoste's second wine and is produced from grapes from the chateau's younger vines. Aromas of black berries, especially cherries, explode on the nose and emphasize the character of very ripe grapes, while maintaining a good freshness. The palate is very aromatic, the midrange is very balanced and the finish has a clear freshness. It is a very charming and delicate wine.

Production The must fermented in temperature-controlled stainless steel tanks, then aged for about 16 months in oak barrels.

About the Producer

Château Grand-Puy-Lacoste's vineyards have been planted with vines since the early 16th century. The 90 hectares of vineyards are currently planted with 75% Cabernet Sauvignon, 20% Merlot and 5% Cabernet Franc at a planting density of 10,000 vines per hectare. Since 1978, Château Grand-Puy-Lacoste has been owned by the Borie family, who have carried out a major renovation of both the cellars and production facilities. Under Xavier Bori's leadership, the wines from the 5ème Cru Classé chateau have become some of the most reliable and sought-after, not only in Pauillac but also in Bordeaux. Many wine critics agree that Château Grand-Puy-Lacoste should be classified higher.
