Information & Character Château Bonalgue, which has its 9 ha. on sand, gravel and clay just northeast of Libourne, used to contain both Cabernet Franc and Cabernet Sauvignon, but that is over now. The vines are being torn up and replaced with Merlot because, as Jean Baptiste Audy puts it: "we have to respect that Merlot is the grape that gives us the best wines in Pomerol". Production The must fermented in temperature-controlled cement tanks and then in French oak barrels for 18 months.
