Information & Character Altenbourg Pinot Noir is from the specific location of Altenbourg in the village of Kientzheim in Alsace, known for its chalky and marly soil. After fermentation, the wine is aged in oak barrels for around 15 months, which contributes to its structure, complexity and aging potential. The style is elegant and fresh with clear minerality, often with aromas of ripe cherries, red berries and subtle spicy and smoky notes. Beautiful intense ruby red color with fine garnet reflections. Distinct notes of cherry, vanilla and caramel, with notes of woody aromas from the barrels. A fresh, mineral and elegant taste takes you to new horizons in Alsace. Aged for 15 months in oak barrels.

Production After fermentation is complete, the wine undergoes maturation on its lees.

About the Producer

The Domaine Meyer-Fonné winery is located in the village of Katzenthal near Colmar in northeastern France and has been run by the Meyer family for three generations. Today, the business is led by Félix Meyer, who took over in 1992. The property comprises approximately 14 hectares of vineyards spread across several villages and different terroirs in Alsace. Meyer-Fonné is particularly known for its high-quality white wines, such as Riesling, Pinot Gris and Gewürztraminer, which often display great balance and clear minerality. The winery works with several Grand Cru sites, including Wineck-Schlossberg and Schoenenbourg, which contributes to the complexity and aging potential of the wines. The philosophy is based on allowing the terroir and the natural character of the grapes to express themselves.
