Information & Character Château Haut-Mayne is located on a plateau in Preignac in the north of the Sauternes appellation. The vineyard consists of 10 hectares (25 acres) planted on clay and limestone. The grapes are picked during three or four passes through the vineyards, with further sorting just before pressing. The final blend is normally 85% Sémillon and 15% Sauvignon Blanc. Bottling takes place after approximately 18 months in wood. Subtle aroma with notes of barrel, orange marmalade, dried pineapple, apricot, saffron and honey. Subtle taste, very sweet and fresh taste with notes of barrel, dried pineapple, saffron, apricot marmalade, honey and bitter orange.

Production The wine undergoes malolactic fermentation and is aged only in oak barrels.

Soil Clay soil in the east and more gravelly soil in the west.

Suitable for Is an excellent dessert.

The Roumazeilles family owns Haut-Mayne as well as the nearby Château Grillon vineyard. The Haut-Mayne vineyard consists of 10 hectares planted on clay and limestone. Château Haut-Mayne is located on a plateau in Preignac in the northern part of the Sauternes appellation. Sauternes, the appellation of the Primo nectar of Bordeaux, is home to Chateau d'Yquem, Château Rieussec, Château Climens, Château Suduiraut, Château Guiraud and other legendary producers. Although we won't mention Haut-Mayne in the same breath as these other famous domains, they do make wonderful Sauternes.
