Information & Character The Petit Verdot grape variety has proven to be an excellent adaptation to the soil of Quinta de São Sebastião. In 2015, this house presented qualitative characteristics that allowed it to be bottled as a mono-vine, after 14 months of aging in new French oak barrels. For a consumer who likes new experiences, only 2,000 bottles are bottled. Fermentation in temperature-controlled steel tanks followed by an extended maceration with skins and 14 months in French oak barrels. Intense aromas of ripe black fruits that give complexity through aging, firm structure, ripe tannins and a persistent finish. Can be stored for up to 15-20 years.

Production takes place at temperature control at 25 ºC and then extended weeks of maceration.

Soil Granite, slate, marble, limestone and on a layer of clay.

Goes with Perfect with pasta, grilled meat, cheese and charcuterie.

About the Producer

Lima Mayer wines are produced at Quinta de São Sebastião in Monforte, which was part of one of the most traditional and prestigious agricultural houses in Alto Alentejo, belonging to the Marquês da Praia and Monforte. The winery is run by Thomaz de Lima Mayer and his family, started as a family project with passion and commitment to producing a high quality wine. Here, the 600-hectare estate is located in a belt of gently rolling granite landscape mostly given over to native forests of Mediterranean cork and holm oak and bred by purebred Alentejo cattle. The hermitage, the estate is bordered by two rivers, the Almuro and the Leca, which in addition to being an important natural resource contribute to the beauty of the land.
