Information & Character "Sobre Lias" The wine has been aged on the lees → gives more body and complexity and often offers a lot of value for money compared to similar styles from France The “Sobre lías” method makes this wine more like some white Burgundies in structure – unusual for Verdejo. Fresh, citrus (lime, lemon), green apple, slightly creamy texture & aromas of herbs, fennel, sometimes slightly bready tone from the aging and nice balance in combination of fresh acidity + rounder body than regular Verdejo. In the nose it is complex and intense, with aromas of hay, characteristic of the Verdejo variety, which give way to subtle notes of white flowers and white fruits such as apple. In the mouth it is elegant, fine, intense, oily, with powerful acidity and a final bitterness, characteristic of the Verdejo variety.

Production takes place at low temperature in stainless steel tanks.

Soil Dry and rocky soil

About the Producer

Bodega La Soterraña is the result of an ambitious project by several friends, unconditional wine lovers with many years of experience in the sector, oenologists, winegrowers. Their passion for wine – and the Verdejo variety in particular – led them to follow a whim: to develop a white Verdejo wine within the Rueda Designation of Origin, solely for its quality and distinction. For this purpose, Bodega la Soterraña was founded in 2006 in the town of Olmedo, a traditional region for kings and knights in Spain and a quality wine-growing area par excellence within the Designation of Origin.
