Information & Character Verdejo from very old vines (50+ years) and in the premium class: “Gran Vino de Rueda”. Extreme selection: Only about 2,000 vines are used and limited production: ~1,600–2,000 bottles. Classified as “Gran Vino de Rueda” → top level in the area, blend of different terroirs (Ávila, Valladolid, Segovia) → more complex taste. More powerful and exclusive than regular Verdejo from Rueda And approaching premium white wines such as Burgundy style, but still Verdejo. A wine with great complexity in the aroma, with notes of fennel and minerals. We also find aromas of candied, ripe stone fruit and balsamic vinegar. In the mouth it is elegant, fine, intense, oily, with powerful acidity and a final bitterness, characteristic of the Verdejo variety.

Production takes place at low temperature in stainless steel tanks.

About the Producer

Bodega La Soterraña is the result of an ambitious project by several friends, unconditional wine lovers with many years of experience in the sector, oenologists, winegrowers. Their passion for wine – and the Verdejo variety in particular – led them to follow a whim: to develop a white Verdejo wine within the Rueda Designation of Origin, solely for its quality and distinction. For this purpose, Bodega la Soterraña was founded in 2006 in the town of Olmedo, a traditional region for kings and knights in Spain and a quality wine-growing area par excellence within the Designation of Origin.
