Information & Character The 2019 Alma de Luzón vintage is a limited edition of 10,440 bottles. The Monastrell grapes are harvested from 46-year-old vines at an altitude of 550 meters. The Syrah grapes are harvested from 20-year-old vines at an altitude of 700 meters. All harvests are carried out manually. The fruit is macerated for 24 hours in 15 kg boxes and stored at low temperatures. This is where the malolactic fermentation takes place for 22 months in new French and American oak barrels before the wine is bottled and then rested for 16 months before being sent to the market. Expressive & intense aromas of red & black fruits, a little spiciness. On the palate it is juicy with a balanced freshness & great character.
Production The wine undergoes malolactic fermentation and is aged only in oak barrels.
Soil: Calcareous soils with lots of stone
Suitable for Perfect charcuterie, meat dishes of lamb, pork and poultry.
About the Producer
Bodega Luzon is one of the largest producers and exporters of DOP Jumilla wine since it was founded by Don José de Molina. He was a commander of the royal armies stationed in the Philippines and decided to return to his homeland of Jumilla after finishing his military career, naming his property "Finca Luzón" in honor of the island where he spent so much time and which always remained in his life. Since 1966, DOP Jumilla. has become one of the oldest designations of origin in Spain.
