Information & Character The main herb they use in this vermouth is artemisia, the traditional starting point of any vermouth. But also gentian, which contains what is probably the world's most bitter substance - amarogentin - and they use it in this vermouth. The base wine for this vermouth is a well-structured Macabeo, perfect for the aging process and the neutral character of this grape means that it does not interfere with the action of the exceptionally bitter herbs used. It rests for 9 months in half-new chestnut barrels before bottling. A blend of wild and dry forest herbs with a subtle mineral note. Balsamic, refreshing and elegant with perfectly balanced bitter-sweet sensations.
Suitable for: Suitable as an appetizer or an excellent choice for finger food.
About the Producer
The Padró family's winemaking dates back to 1886 and to the village of Bràfim (Tarragona), which at the time was a bustling agricultural hub with around 400 inhabitants. The very first sales were of wines and liqueur wines loaded onto carts in large but simple barrels and sold directly from there by the first generation of winemaking Padrós: Daniel Padró Porta (1846-1890) and his wife Rosa Valldosera. At that time they ran a fairly humble establishment with just a press and a small amount of distillery equipment to make spirits and anise liqueurs. The fifth generation, is currently in charge of the winery.
