Information & Character The cool growing season favoured good tannin ripening, flavour and colour accumulation. Smaller than usual berries facilitated concentration and extraction. The wines were aged in 225-litre French oak barrels for 20 months. A combination of 30% first fill, 30% second fill and 40% third fill was used for the ageing. After 12 months the wines were decanted from barrel and blended to improve integration, then returned to barrel for further ageing. A blend of blackcurrant, mulberry and raspberry lead the way on the nose and are backed by pencil shavings, cigar boxes, roasted coffee beans, dark chocolate and warm spices. A full-bodied palate with tight, linear tannins and a well-balanced acidity lends itself to the rich berry fruit. The Merlot adds a lovely depth to the mid-palate while the Cabernet Sauvignon rounds out.

Production The wine undergoes malolactic fermentation.
